Young Elka Fein was born to refugees and the plight of the less fortunate was on her mind forever after. Witnessing her parents assist fellow refugee families, she determined that her life too would be dedicated to the needy.
Her chesed acts soon spread as wide as her generosity. From assisting orphaned children to donating equipment to the hospital for the poor in Yerushalayim, she left an indelible mark — on those she helped and on her dear children.
Upon her passing, it was only natural that her hand should keep on feeding. Yad Elka—the hand of Elka—would extend and reach far, perpetuating her graceful legacy.
